Microsoft OneDrive is the cloud based storage offering with Office 365 of 5TB per user.  Some of the benefits:

  • Always available cloud based storage. Files stored in OneDrive are not only accessible from COEIT computers, but from any computer with an internet connection. This includes OSU public computing sites and personal devices.
  • Mobile device support: Access OneDrive files from your phone or tablet device using the mobile client or a web browser.
  • Capacity – 5TB of storage allocated per user.
  • OneDrive Files-On-Demand keeps your most recent and most used files cached on your computer for immediate access. Rarely used files are kept in the cloud freeing up space on your hard drive. Users have the ability to designate files or folders that are always kept locally or only available in the cloud regardless of when they are used.
  • No additional backup solution required, all data is automatically and continuously backed up to the cloud.
  • Seamless integration with Office365 including live collaboration and automatic file versioning of all Office documents stored on OneDrive.
  • Easy and secure file sharing. Files and folders can be shared from within OneDrive with people both inside and outside OSU.

Restrictions

  • Use of OneDrive on restricted systems will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Most data is authorized for storage within OneDrive, but certain categories of restricted data are not.  Please consult https://go.osu.edu/idp-services for further details.
